Time-Police Part 2

Time-Police Part 1 is the ninth episode of Season 1 and the first of the two-part season finale. It is the tenth episode of Superjail overall.

Plot[]

At a Chubsteaks restaurant in a mall, Jacknife punches an exhausted employee and disguises as him to record a female employee, in a bikini, taking off her bra through a small hole in the wall. Jailbot sees him through a telescope in the grease fryers and breaks out. Jacknife promptly screams and grabs an employee to throw at Jailbot, but he gets immediately thrown onto a very hot oven. Jacknife escapes from Chubsteaks, hitting the restaurant’s mascot and rushing pass a bunch of people on an escalator while Jailbot chases him through the mall, even pushing all of the people off of the escalator. As Jacknife escapes the mall, Jailbot encounters an security guard, who shoots him, but Jailbot uses a chair to repeatedly hit and injure him before breaking out of the mall's doors. Jailbot looks for Jacknife outside the mall and finds him inside of a dumpster, full of Rats, on his screen and flies into the air to grab the dumpster with a large magnet to take Jacknife over to Superjail, starting up the intro.

Jared is explaining the recent torture mechanisms of Superjail to The Warden which, according to him, Jared even makes this sound very boring. After watching the latest scientific breakthroughs, including the twisted experimentations by The Doctor, they notice Superjail is overcrowded. Hearing Jared remark on a fast food chain, The Warden is inspired to expand Superjail into a large franchise, to allow for more inmates to be properly imprisoned. This prompts the Time Police to intervene, and teleport him to a strange, otherworldly court, where he must stand trial for crimes he has yet to commit, leaving The Warden's employees confused. During his trial, The Warden needs to use the restroom (which prove to be particularly unsettling). Meanwhile, the Superjail staff learn that since The Warden is gone from Superjail, full shutdown is required. After he has used the restroom, The Warden attempts to escape, unsuccessfully. He finds himself back in court and is found guilty of declaring global war, which seems to result in Superjail succeeding. His penalty appears to be imprisonment in a darkened realm, inside a very small jail cell, and the Superjail staff are forced to look for a new job, after being launched out of the securely locked Superjail.

Trivia[]

  • An uncensored version of this episode and "Time-Police Part 2" were screened at a ASIFAEast panel in 2009. However, on the DVD release of the first season of Superjail, these episodes aren’t actually uncensored. The same panel also revealed that both episodes of "Time-Police" were originally going to be a lot longer, but were spilt up into two separate episodes as Adult Swim’s executives wanted these episodes to actually be a two-partner.
  • This episode reveals that Specimen 7 most likely died after "Combaticus" or at least died at some point in the future, as its holding cell reads "R.I.P." in red letters.
  • Aside from the Scorpion mutant, a bunch of animal species are listed on a chalkboard. Most of the animals names on the chalkboard are crossed out, suggesting that The Doctor made the mutants from most of these animals.

Cultural References[]

  • Chubsteaks' name is a parody of the real-life restaurant brand Grub Steaks. The restaurant's logo also resembles the logo for Burger King. The smoothie place that appears next to Chubsteaks, which is called Lemon Jeff, seems to be modeled after the logo of the real-life company Orange Julius.
  • The Time-Police are based off the rock band Cheap Trick and their fourth studio album Dream Police. They Time-Police wear helmets that are inspired by the hard suits from the anime Bubblegum Crisis and uniforms that seem reminiscent of the Sandmen uniforms from the 1976 film Logan’s Run, similar to The Twins.
  • The Warden is trapped in a jail cell, during his trial, that resembles the cell that the Master was being held in the Doctor Who made for TV movie.
  • The Warden's Soldiers have a strong resemblance to the Helghast soldiers from the video game Killzone.
